Rick Neumann was bitten by a bull shark while spearfishing on April 3, 2015.
He was two miles off West Palm Beach, Florida diving in 40 feet of water when the shark bit him.
Neumann believes the shark was going after a cobia and grabbed his head by mistake.
“I think the shark got confused and he just lashed out and hit me like a freight train,” he told KHQ Q6
“‘I knew that I was bleeding a lot and I felt around and knew part of my ear was hanging off.”
After a 45-minute boat ride he was airlifted to the hospital.
He received 200 stitches and is expected to make a full recovery and can’t wait to get back in the water.
